There is no way it could hurt the band to allow a twirler to participate at half time and non competitive performances. I doubt that there is a way it would hurt the competitive performances. What it might do is make the band director think outside the box and actually do more work by writing her into a drill. Most of the competitive college twirler positions that offer scholarships require videos of the candidate's on field performances to be submitted before the twirler can get an invitation to try out for the scholarship. This school is making that impossible for this girl to do this.
