Confirmed: Santa Anita to Host 2012 Breeders' Cup

Arcadia Mayor Gary Kovacic said he expects the event to generate $3 million for Arcadia and surrounding communities.

It's finally confirmed: Officials announced that the will host the 2012 Breeders Cup,

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa made the announcement Wednesday during a joint press conference with officials at the Marriott Hotel at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.

Villaraigosa said he estimates the event will bring in $60 million for the Southern California region. Mayor Gary Kovacic, who represented Arcadia at the announcement—along with Mayor Pro Tem Bob Harbicht and City Manager Don Penman—said the Breeder's Cup could rake in $3 million for Arcadia.
