Big Rig Fire on 210 Snarls Traffic in Arcadia

The fire erupted near the Baldwin Avenue exit and forced the closure of all westbound lanes.

A big rig fire forced the closure of all westbound lanes on the 210 freeway in Arcadia Monday morning as authorities worked to contain the blaze, a fire department official said.

The fire was reported at 9:15 a.m. near the Baldwin Avenue exit, Arcadia Fire Department spokeswoman Beth Stogner said. One lane had been re-opened as of 10:15 a.m.

The fire did not result from a collision and no injuries were reported, Stogner said.

"There had to be some kind of mechanical failure or issue involved in the fire," she said.

Units from the Arcadia and Monrovia fire departments responded to extinguish the fire. The damage was contained to the tractor portion of the vehicle, Stogner said.
