Man Arrested for Allegedly Trying to Abduct 6-Year-Old Girl at Arcadia Park

The 33-year-old man is accused of trying to drag the girl away from the park while she was playing with friends and family.

A 33-year-old man was arrested Sunday for allegedly dragging a little girl away from a park in Arcadia while she was there with her friends and family, according to authorities.

The man, identified as Jason Macklin Dell, allegedly grabbed the 6-year-old girl and dragged her more than 100 feet through Arcadia County Park while she screamed, according to a Los Angeles County Nixle alert. She was able to free herself and fled on foot.

"The girl ran to her mother who was nearby and told her what had happened," the alert states.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the call at about 3:35 p.m. Sunday and arrested Dell after the girl's mother confronted the man, who was described by authorities as a transient.

Dell was booked on charges of kidnapping and annoying a child and is being held in lieu of $400,000 in bail, the alert states.
