Cause of Death Not Yet Determined for Stranger Found in Arcadia Backyard Pool

The Arcadia Police Department's weekly crime blotter suggests the cause of the stranger found in a local resident's backyard pool was likely suicide, but Coroner's Department officials say there is no official cause yet established.

Authorities will be conducting toxicology tests in the case of a stranger found dead in the backyard pool of a home in the 700 block of Camino Grove Avenue last Thursday and the cause of death is still pending, according to Lt. Fred Corral of the County Coroner's Department.

The man's body was discovered after residents at the home found a dog roaming around in their backyard and went out to investigate, according to the Arcadia Police Department.

The department's weekly crime blotter report, which was released Tuesday afternoon, notes that preliminary investigation at the scene led detectives to conclude the case was a suicide, because the man was found with small lacerations on his arms.

Investigators also found other evidence that was inconsistent with drowning as the cause of death, according to the blotter.

However, until the toxicology results are in, which will take 8-10 weeks, there is no official cause of death listed in the case, according to Corral.

Identification found at the scene indicated that the man was a 35-year-old Arcadia resident, the Pasadena Star-News reported last week.
